Weathering Life's Storms: Tips for Waking Up Happy Every Day
It’s easy to be happy in life when everything is going the way you want it to, but what happens when things stop going your way? How about when trials and tribulations just keep stacking on top of you? Can you still bring happiness to the table every day? I am here to tell you that yes, you can still be happy. Here’s how.
Have Faith in God
When you have Faith in God and that he knows best, it allows for you to be content in every circumstance. God put’s all of his people through tests and how we respond shows us just who we really are. Will you be quick to throw disdain God’s way when things don’t go your way? Or will you ask God for strength and healing during your times of trials and tribulations?
Stay Thankful for What You Have
Let me tell you, that saying, “Things can be worse” is one of the truest reminders of life. Be careful not to focus so much on what you don’t have, and do more focus on all the things that God has already given you. For example, if you woke up this morning, then you should be very thankful for what God is doing for you.
Stay Away From People and Environments That Trigger You Negatively
Whether you are going through a storm or not, it’s important to stay away from people and environments that are negatively charged. Negatively charged people will work hard to bring you down to their levels because as the saying goes, misery loves company.
Take Care of Your Body and Eat Food That Nourishes Your Body
When going through storms of life, it’s important to remember to take of yourself. Stress has an array of effects on our bodies and none of them are good. I mean none. The way our bodies respond to stress shows that we were never meant to worry or become depressed. So have faith in God, eat foods that are good for your body, and if possible exercise at least 30 minutes a day.
Pray and Speak Often to God
When going through storms of life, you may find yourself confused and unsure about what is going on. You may find yourself unable to see the steps in front of you. That’s where God comes in. The more you pray and talk to God, allows for you to move forward every day knowing that even though you don’t have all the answers, God does.
Avoid Habits That Work to Numb You and the Pain You Are Going Through
Experiencing emotional and physical pain can be challenging, heartbreaking, and devastating. However, true recovery from trauma involves confronting these emotions directly, with faith acting as the guiding force through your pain. To properly heal from trauma, it is crucial to avoid activities that exacerbate your suffering. Engaging in heavy drinking, drug use, and promiscuity, for instance, can further intensify the storm you are going through.
Takeaway
When facing trials and tribulations, maintaining happiness can be a challenging task. However, it is crucial to remember that happiness is a choice that can be cultivated through a positive mindset and self-care practices.
Finding moments of joy in the little things, practicing gratitude, surrounding yourself with supportive people, and taking time for activities that bring you joy can all contribute to sustaining happiness during difficult times.
Remember, it's okay to acknowledge your emotions and seek help when needed, but staying hopeful and focusing on the light at the end of the tunnel can help you navigate through the rough patches with resilience and grace.
